A few weeks back we hosted our Festive Forage & Feast wild food event in Dorset and we wanted to share this jolly occasion with you so that even if you weren't there in person we could spread a little Christmas cheer your way...
Christmas came early for our very last Forage & Feast of the year with Fore / Kitchen in Dorset. Fires were laid, stories were shared and new friends made. We gorged on Beetroot & Goats cheese risotto with sea purlsane, wood fired Wild mushroom and Venison stew with foraged greens, followed by Christmas pud with lashings of Rosehip brandy cream.
Laughter filled the air mingled with wood smoke and after the last guests left us we had a moment to pause and think, what a jolly good year we've had!! You'll find details of this years calendar plus how to book or buy gift vouchers for these events on the special events page on our website.
It seems that we are conditioned to retreat inside when the colder climes arrive and once the nights start to begin to draw in early afternoon, we think to hunker down in the comfort of the indoors. At this time of year gathering around a table with the back drop of twinkling lights makes everyones spirits lift, especially after spending time outdoors.
Don't get us wrong we love nothing better than huddling round fires and getting cosy to take shelter too but there's no reason why you can't get cosy outside! It's at moments like this one; after our foraging foray for wild edibles before the feast began with everyone wrapped in their winter woolies huddling round the campfire, trialling their bushcaft prowess, chopping wood and testing firelighting skills that the magic of christmas seemed to be felt the most that day.
Of course it could have had something to do with the rosehip gin fizz we served too!!....
Here's what our guests had to say;
"It was a brilliant afternoon/evening. I learnt so much, feel so inspired about outdoors life again (even in the cold dark months) and am absolutely delighted to discover there is a use for all the goose grass we have! You know so much, you share so generously and so effortlessly and you made the whole thing such a delight. I can't wait to bring the whole family to experience the magic. Thank you!" Hatty
"This is the second adventure I have booked with Fore and it was one not to be forgotten. The team at Fore share their knowledge of foraging so enthusiastically and I learned a huge amount in our relatively short walk. The pavilion was decorated beautifully and it felt so Christmassy. I loved learning how to make fire and really enjoyed chopping wood and warming up by the fire. All of the food and drink was absolutely delicious. Thank you to Jade, Dan and your team for a truly memorable afternoon. Highly recommended" Lisa
