We could be biased, but we think we offer the best kayak activity in Dorset ! Our kayak, fish, forage and feast is one of our most popular events, and we’re about to tell you why. Fish from our kayaks, forage for seaweed, coastal plants and sea vegetables along the Dorset coast before heading back to an epic meal at our stunning seaside pavilion.
Learn new skills, explore a beautiful bay and eat a delicious meal. You won’t be surprised to hear our instructors fight over who’s on the rota for this event!
Prepare For The Best Kayak Activity in Dorset!
We provide all the watersports equipment you need to enjoy the day; wetsuit, cag, buoyancy aid and helmet to keep you warm and safe on the water. All you need to bring is swimwear and a pair of shoes.
We use double sit on top kayaks for this session, meaning even beginner kayakers can join in and enjoy the water. Fishing with handlines rather than rods means beginners can concentrate on the experience without having to get too technical with learning how to use rods. We do offer kayak fishing courses aswell with rods but you do need to have prior experience to join these courses.
As we kayak through Studland Bay, you’ll fish off your kayak and take in the epic view of Old Harry Rocks ahead. Here we forage for seaweed and pull in lobster pots that we’ve left out in anticipation of a catch of the day.
Heading back to Middle Beach on our kayaks, it’s time to get changed into dry clothes and head on a short foraging walk.
Forage Through Studland
Explore Studland, learn new edible plants, as well as those used traditionally for folk medicine, as you walk to our feast location with our forager. They’ll explain what plants are available with the seasons, share recipes and tips for foraging and identify which plants are poisonous and what wild plants to avoid.
We’re spoilt for choice in Studland. Your walk might take in hedgerow, meadow, woodland, shoreline or heathland – depending on factors like the season, the tide and what foraged ingredients are featured in the feast!
Time To Feast
It’s time to settle in, you’ve certainly earned it after kayaking, fishing and foraging! Our resident chef prepares an epic feast, comprising locally sourced produce and foraged ingredients. Sit back and enjoy those stunning views across Studland Bay from outr feast location .
At our seaside pavillion we take the opportunity to share more foraging knowledge with you. This could include wild food demos, or resources recommendations for you to continue your foraging journey.
We conquer sea, shore and stomach on these adventures, and demonstrate the connection between nature and plate. We’d love for you to join us soon, check out the events calendar for dates.
