Three weeks on and we are still smiling from our wild food and photography retreat Dorset with the wonderful Marte Marie Forsberg. A photographer, visual storyteller and home cook extraordinaire! Together with the very clever Linda Lomelino who was just as sweet as her delicious cakes. Whiling away the hours on our favourite past times, sharing what we know and love about the great outdoors and passing on tid bits of our wild ways. We felt honoured to be working with such talent and warm hearted folk in and out of the kitchen.
Studland Bay House
Our home from home for the 3 days was the stunning Studland Bay house. This family home is steeped in history, beautiful nooks & crannies and lashings of character. It’s also set amongst 13 acres of glorious gardens. Just a stones throw from our hutquarters on the shoreline below. Thus, it was simply the perfect setting for our first retreat Dorset.
There is so much to tell and too many gorgeous images to share from the super talented Sarah Lou Francis! Here’s the first in a series of snippets from one of our favourite times so far being Fore. Just a wee warning – you might want to sign up for our next retreat Dorset by the end of this page!
Foraging Dorset
Whilst the rain held back we shared our special spots and scoured the seashore for wild edibles. Never rushed or hurried, with time to pause and take in our beautiful surroundings. Plus plenty of opportunity for Marie to pass on her pearls of photography wisdom. As always on our glorious isle there was an abundance of content to capture. Clicking cameras and the twitter of wildlife was our soundtrack. We explored our little patch of wild seeking & tasting foraged greens along the way.
Laden down with baskets of green goodies we headed back to the sanctuary of the grand old house. Time to gorge on the awesome Heather Whiteheads spring green filled frittata! Perfect paired with the most incredible goats cheese, peach and cherry salad. Next, a workshop in visual styling with Marie and the unveiling of Linda’s stunning cake creation.
Retreat Dorset – More To Come
So that’s just day one covered of our retreat Dorset and still no mention of Marie’s wonderful welcome meal on the Friday evening! Nor the scrumptious afternoon tea with homemade scones and lashings of English strawberries and clotted cream by the gorgeous Abbie Melle! Furthermore, we haven’t yet even touched on the foraged feast we hosted in the most magical pavilion by the sea! Additionally, the fishing trip aboard captain Doug’s trusty vessel. We did try & tell you this would take some time, now we’ve started we have a hunch it may take a little longer….
So if you like the journey so far then do come back for more (just give us a few days!) we very much hope to see you soon. Cheers!
