Where Are We

We are completely immersed in nature here on our peninsula in Studland on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, watching our heath, shoreline and woodland change throughout the seasons is a constant source of inspiration for us. We have designed our foraging and wild food adventures to get you close to nature and to let us guide you through what makes this area of Dorset so special and unique.

Britains Best Walks with Julia Bradbury | kayak & fish at Old Harry Rocks

January seems as good a time as any to tell our tales & never has there been a better month to start hatching your plans…if you’re dreaming up some adventures of your own for this year, then there’s no better place to have found yourself right now!

We always knew our adventure stomping ground in Studland bay in Dorset was something pretty special. It marks the beginning of the Jurassic Coastline, a UNESCO World Heritage sight, for one. But for two, our patch of wild also happens to be home to an iconic landmark in Dorset, Old Harry Rocks, filled to the brim in myth, magic and legend, with pirates and the Devil himself making their shady contribution to the history of our home. With all this in mind it was little wonder that Julia Bradbury decided to choose our special spot for her first episode of the new series of Britains Best Walks and we were delighted to be invited to join the crew for the day and feature on the program.

To read more about the chalky stacks and arches at Old Harry Rocks where we run our adventures and that feature on Julias walks click here to a previous blog we wrote a while back about the Legend of Old Harry Rocks and how he came to bear his name. Or you can tune in to ITV to see for yourselves what gets us out of bed in the morning, as we explore our patch of wild with the lovely Julia Bradbury on the new series of Britains best walks.

The episode takes in a walking route from sandbanks over to Old Harrys stacks and then to the majestic Agglestone Rock.  You can see the route and walk it yourselves here on The Outdoor Guide. It was one of those days when the sea is shining and the bay is blissfully quiet, always such a treat for us to hit the kayaks and head out to find supper, except this time we met Julia enroute for a stop off to catch us foraging and fishing and later shared the catch of the day with a fishy feast prepared by our pal James Golding, chef director of The Pig hotel group. If you missed the program and are wondering what this all looks like, then you can watch us all on the new series of Britains best walks on ITV here.

If any of this sounds like your hopes and dreams for 2017 then you can join us to enjoy all that this wonderful location has to offer. Our adventure days on high seas are a mix of half and full day kayak trips to explore Old Harry Rocks or Poole harbours islands and creeks. We add to the mix; snorkelling, fishing and foraging and can toast our efforts by cooking up a days findings on the beach with you. If dry land is more your thing, we run heaps of foraging courses, wild food workshops and bushcraft days aswell as our forage and feast events, a very special handcrafted evening celebrating all that the seasons have to offer.  Have a good scour about our blog to hear about past events or hop over to our special events page for more details of what we have coming up.
