Best places to eat and drink in Dorset

A day in (Fore / Adventures) world is enough to assure anyone that adventure is out there.

The very best beach experiences

This is an adventure for those of you who want to immerse themselves in wild food and all that the ocean has to offer, kayak in the world famous Unesco heritage site at Old Harry Rocks.

You’re in the best hands to try and catch your lunch or dinner with us.  We’ll be fishing off the kayaks using handlines for delicious fresh fish  such as black bream, seabass and mackerel. We will pause along the way to teach you how to identify edible plants and seaweeds and pull in pots to seek out crustaceans. Why not join one of our kayak fish forage and feast trips which run monthly to cook up our finds on the day with our resident chef so you can extend this day priced at an extra £50pp.  Only available on certain dates check the events page and be quick as these book up fast!

We manage our fishing and foraging sessions responsibly in a sustainable manner. Fishing from a kayak is an ecological friendly activity with minimal impact on the environment. You could be catching Bream, Bass (catch & release), Mackerel, Rays, Dogfish in the Summer and Whiting and Plaice in the Winter.  We don’t fish in protected waters and only ID plants for your information in these areas. If you are looking to learn how to use fishing rods in a single kayak you need to book on the intro to kayak fishing course which is specifically designed for kayak fishing tuition.

  • All of our kayak fish and foraging adventures run from our Hutquarters on Middle beach in Studland
  • Please arrive at our base in the car park 10 minutes before your adventure begins to ensure a savvy start as we unfortunately we can’t hold the session if you are late.
  • You will need to be ready in your swimwear for a swift change into wetsuits.
  • After a quick change you will make your way down to our beach hut down on the beach where we will forage en route to the shoreline.
  • After a short safety briefing you will kayak out to explore the majestic Old Harry Rocks. We hug the coastline and stay in mostly shallow water all the way, you will use handlines and troll for fish along the way. At Old Harry we enter deeper water and explore the cliffs and sea stacks.
  • This trip is on double sit on top kayaks and is suitable for complete novices or more experienced kayakers.
  • On the water you will forage for edible seaweeds and sea vegetables from the kayaks and our expert guides will share with you their knowledge of wild food.
  • If you want to use rods and be in a single kayak you need to book on the intro to kayak fishing course.
  • You will need to bring footwear (old trainers or aqua shoes do just the job)
  • In summer you can wear your swimming cossie or shorts underneath our wetsuits. Make sure you bring sunglasses, sunscreen, a change of clothes, a towel and something to eat and drink too
  • In winter you will need to wear a base layer under our wetsuit (manmade fabrics are ideal as cotton will retain water). Hats and gloves are a good idea too, as well as a snug fleece and some warm socks for afterwards!
  • £70pp (littlest age allowed is 12 years)
  • Bespoke options are available for groups too.
  • Bespoke Kayak fish and Foraging (3 hours) £650 for groups of up to 10. Larger groups can be accommodated. 2 x groups of 10 for groups of up to 20.
