Sea Kayaking Tours Safety

In the event of an incident, all of our guides carry personal locator beacons so that help will come straight away. Once activated, the signal is detected by a satellite and sent to a Mission Control Centre (MCC) where it is decoded and forwarded to the nearest Rescue Coordination Centre. Luckily we have never had to use them but we carry them so you are in the safest hands.

Dorset Kayak Adventures Reviews

“The sit on top kayaks were amazing, my wife took the front seat so she could see all of the wildlife and epic views first. We both loved the tour with Dan and Eliot. Thank you guys”

Danny D

“Night kayaking was stunning, unfortunately as soon as the sun set I was feeling a little seasick. Dan gave me some of his wild foraged tea – I felt better almost immediately. Paddling under the stars and a bright moon was certainly a unique experience – thank you.”

Jodi F

“We took the entire family for a kayaking tour around Old Harry Rocks with Fore Adventure, they were great, even both of my little grumpbags had a wail of a time. Thank you so much.”

Kirtsy B

“My friends bought me a birthday gift card for Fore Adventure, the kayaking tour was simply wonderful. Paddling under the chalk cliffs and following dolphins. 5 stars”

Kayaking In Dorset Questions

Can A Beginner Use A Sea Kayak?

Our Beginners Sea Kayaking Session is suitable for beginners, including people who have used sit-on-top kayaks before, and people who have never kayaked. If you’re nervous or not sure, book a sit-on-top kayak adventure first.

What Is Safer - A Sit On Or Sit In Kayak?

Both types of kayaks are safe, but some people are unsure about being enclosed in a sea kayak as these have a spray deck. Sit-on-top kayaks are more stable than sea kayaks and are open, so are better for nervous people.

Are Sea Kayaks Stable?

Our sea kayaks are suitable for beginners and are stable, though nervous first-time paddlers may prefer sit on tops to build their confidence.

When Are The Kayaking Adventures Available?

We run Kayak Adventures between April and October. Our Sit on Top tours and Beginners Sea Kayak sessions run every day.

What Wildlife Might We See Along The Way?

We often see plenty of coastal birds, including gulls, herons, egrets, and oystercatchers. Occasionally we catch sight of birds of prey like peregrine falcons. We often catch glimpses of wildlife under the water, including a variety of fish, crabs, and even seals. Some super lucky customers have even spotted dolphins!

Is Paddling In Kayaks Under Cliffs Safe?

We regularly risk assess which areas of the cliff we paddle under, and always wear helmets when we’re close to the cliffs.

Can I Bring A Camera To Take Pictures?

You’re welcome to bring a camera or phone in a buoyant waterproof case to take pictures to remember your adventure, but you do so at your own risk. We advise using a quick-release leash so that if you do drop your camera in the sea it doesn’t float away We cannot provide cameras or waterproof cases.

Can I Bring My Own Fishing Rod?

We often set up fishing rods up with specific lures etc for the session you’ll be joining. You are welcome to bring your rod and ask the guide, but ultimately it will be their decision on the day.

Do We Get To Eat/ Cook The Edible Plants On The Kayak Foraging Adventures?

There are many plants and seaweeds you can taste on the kayak foraging adventures, and you are welcome to take a small amount of your forage home with you. If you want to enjoy a foraged feast book a forage & feast or kayak fish forage & feast experience or join a foraging and wild pizza workshop.
