Kayaking Tour Important Information
These trips are run using double sit-on-top kayaks. Please book in your groups where possible, as you will be sharing a kayak.
If the total group size is an odd number, we have a single kayak available — your instructor will allocate this on the day.
If you are booking as an individual or would prefer a single kayak, please book our half-day introduction to sea kayaking sessions, which use single closed cockpit kayaks.
Age Requirements
Minimum suggested age: 12+
All participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult (1:2 ratio in kayaks if children are under 16).
Children under 16 must share a kayak with an accompanying adult from your group on this half-day tour.
If your child is slightly younger, you are welcome to join our 2-hour kayak tours (age 8+) or book a private bespoke session.
Want a Shorter Experience?
If you’re looking for a shorter, more relaxed introduction, our 2-hour Old Harry Rocks kayak tour (age 8+) is a great option.
Itinerary
All of our Old Harry Rocks half-day sit-on-top kayaking sessions run from our hutquarters at Middle Beach in Studland.
Please arrive at the car park 10 minutes before your session to allow time to get ready. We’re unable to delay departures for late arrivals, so arriving on time is important to ensure you don’t miss your experience.
Come ready in your swimwear so you can quickly change into wetsuits on arrival.
After a quick change, you’ll make your way down to our beach hut on the shoreline.
Following a short safety briefing, you’ll head out onto the water and begin your journey across Studland Bay towards Old Harry Rocks.
We follow the coastline, staying in generally shallow, calm water. As you approach Old Harry Rocks, the water deepens and the scenery becomes more dramatic, with opportunities to explore the cliffs, arches, and sea stacks along this iconic stretch of the Jurassic Coast.
This trip is run on double sit-on-top kayaks and is suitable for complete beginners as well as more experienced kayakers.
If you’re looking for a shorter, more relaxed experience, we also offer a 2-hour Old Harry Rocks kayak tour.
