Sea Kayaking Trips & Tuition In Dorset

Sea Kayaking Trips & Tuition Information

We have expert British Canoeing instructors who are here to help you develop whether you’re just starting out or you need help developing your rough water handling skills. Our location at Middle Beach, Studland enables us to get straight on the water for our sea kayaking trips.

We maintain a fleet of Perception Essence sea kayaks that are ideal for teaching the skills to progress from beginner to advanced sea kayaking.

Our half-day introduction to sea kayaking gets you started and gives you the foundation skills you need to start your sea kayaking journey. Studland bay is a world-class location enabling you to progress quickly. If conditions suit you will explore Old Harry Rocks.

For our intermediate sea kayaking day we explore the iconic sea stacks, caves, and cliffs of Old Harry Rocks. If conditions suit then you will journey to Ballard point and Swanage Bay. Throughout the day our coaches will take every opportunity to develop your personal paddling skills and knowledge of the coastal environment.

Advanced Sea Kayaking Adventures

The 2-day British Canoeing Sea Kayak Award (tidal) helps you develop the skills to take part in coastal sea kayak journeys in tides of up to 1 knot and winds of up to force 3. Our British Canoeing coaches will explore the skills you need to get the most out of this award.

For our advanced sea kayaking days the Jurassic coast provides a world class venue for rough water paddling. With the tidal races at Old Harry Rocks, Peveril Point, Durlston and St Aldhelms head we have fantastic venues on our doorstep. Another favourite location is Portland Bill and the associated tidal races.

All of our sea kayaking trips can be booked on a bespoke basis please see the info at the end of each adventure.

Founder Dan Scott holds the highest sea kayak leadership award, the Advanced Sea Kayak Leader and our instructors all hold their BC Paddle Sport Instructor and sea kayak award qualifications plus have extensive in house training.

Sea Kayaking Trips Safety

Safety is our number one priority on our sea kayaking trips. We can guarantee that all our instructors are trained to industry standard best practice and hold National Governing body qualifications where applicable, to operate in line with our BCU paddlesport accredited provider status and AALA licence. As a WISE wildlife safe accredited operator you be can rest assured that we work responsibly, without disturbing the wildlife and sealife.

In the event of an incident all of our guides carry personal locator beacons so that help will come straight away. Once activated, the signal is detected by a satellite and sent to a Mission Control Centre (MCC) where it is decoded and forwarded to the nearest Rescue Coordination Centre. Luckily we have never had to use them but we carry them so you are in the safest hands.
