Intermediate Stand Up Paddleboarding – Half Day Reviews

“Took the half day SUP tour around Harrys Rocks after loving the intro course last year, our guide was so friendly and knowlageable and I’m still out on an SUP with two of the group members every month – truly addictive”

Karen K

“Second time paddleboarding with Fore, thoroughly recommend all of their instructors”

Jen B

“Old Harry Rocks is the most stunning place to SUP, I book in with Fore every summer and have now bought two SUPs of my own. Their instruction course is second to none.”

Lorence F

“I’ve been on a stand up paddleboard a few times but this course was by far the best experience I have had on an SUP – thank you”

Intermediate Stand Up Paddleboarding – Half Day Questions

General Information

Jump aboard the paddle boards from our hut on Middle beach to explore Studland bay, one of the south’s most beautiful beaches, and onto the world-famous stacks at Old Harry Rocks. The Dorset coast provides the perfect setting for an intermediate paddleboarding adventure and our sheltered bay is a great location to develop your skills and take a journey. This course is the perfect adventure for those adventurous types who have some previous experience of stand up paddleboarding and a good level of fitness.

The Jurassic coastline provides endless opportunities for paddle boarding and we are fortunate to have our base right on the shoreline, so no time is wasted in hitting the water. Our guides are excellent paddlesport instructors and have ample experience to share with you so that you can better your SUP skills and get the most out of your time on the water with us and feel confident planning your own future SUP adventures.

Paddle Boarding Experience

You will need to complete the 2-hour intro to stand-up paddleboarding or be competent on a SUP to take part in our Half Day Intermediate Stand Up Paddle Boarding. Please be aware that on rare occasions the conditions may not be favourable to go as far as Old Harry Rocks and in this case we will reduce the trip to a 2-hour session in the bay, or take the journey to Old Harry Rocks on kayaks instead if we have availability.

Our Half Day Old Harry Rocks tour is available at 09.00-12.00 / 13.00-16.00 (weather depending) Min suggested age 16+. Please note children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult

We also run a 2 Hour paddleboarding session 7 days a week from our Hutquarters on Middle Beach in Studland suitable for age 12+, at 09.00 – 11.00 / 11.30 – 13.30 / 14:30- 16:30 from March – October

If your child is within 6 months of the suggested age you are fine to go ahead and book this experience, if your children are younger join our 2-hour SUP trips designed for age 12+ priced at £40pp or book this trip as a private bespoke experience, see below.

Itinerary

  • All of our intermediate stand up paddleboarding Old Harry Rocks sessions run from our Hutquarters on Middle beach in Studland.
  • Please arrive at our base in the car park 10 minutes before your adventure begins to ensure a savvy start as we, unfortunately, can’t hold the session if you are late.
  • You will need to be ready in your swimwear for a swift change into wetsuits.
  • After a quick change, you will make your way down to our beach hut down on the beach.
  • After a short safety briefing, you will take to the water with our instructor who will share their knowledge of paddle boarding with you then journey along the coast to Old Harry Rocks. We hug the coastline and stay in sheltered water. At Old Harry we enter deeper water and explore the cliffs and sea stacks further.
  • This trip is on composite stand up paddle boards and is suitable for people with a good level of experience on paddleboards or those that have completed our 2 hour intro course and have been given the go-ahead by our instructors.
  • If you are not confident on an SUP and want more tuition we have a 2 hour intro to paddleboarding course priced at £40pp.

What To Bring

  • You will need to bring footwear (old trainers or aqua shoes do just the job).
  • You will need to wear your swimming cossie or shorts underneath our wetsuits. Make sure you bring sunglasses, sunscreen, a change of clothes, a towel, and a water bottle to stay hydrated.
  • In winter you will need to wear a base layer under our wetsuit (manmade fabric as cotton will retain water). Hats and gloves are a good idea too, as well as a snug fleece and some warm socks for afterward!

Minimum Age

  • £60pp (minimum age allowed is 16 years).
  • Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Bespoke Options

  • The private tours are discounted to £360 for a Half Day Intermediate Stand Up Paddleboarding Old Harry Rocks tour for groups of up to 6. If your group is larger than 6 we can still accommodate you.
  • We can work with groups of up to 12 on half days. For larger groups, we run multiple groups of up to 6 at the same time to make up a larger group size. You will still need to book an entire group of up to 6 even if your group size is smaller than this.
  • The min age is 14+ on bespoke half days.
  • To book a bespoke trip select the book ‘entire activity’ button and this session will be booked privately for your group. Please contact us directly if there are not enough sessions available to book your entire group and we can check if we have availability to add more.
