Where Are We

We are completely immersed in nature here on our peninsula in Studland on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, watching our heath, shoreline and woodland change throughout the seasons is a constant source of inspiration for us. We have designed our foraging and wild food adventures to get you close to nature and to let us guide you through what makes this area of Dorset so special and unique.

Sea Kayak Night Navigation Reviews

Lovely location for the course. All information was provided that was needed. And James was a brilliant coach. I would recommend you to anyone.

I live in Weymouth and do a lot of water sports. The Fore Adventure kayak trip to Old Harry was exceptional. John really knows his stuff - he looked after all the members of the expedition, showed us the sea life round Old Harry, was thoughtful, intelligent and really good fun. And the safety features were meticulous - checking the weather before we left, notifying the coastguard before and after the trip, carrying a VHF transmitter and mobile phone, safety drill, equipment.

Fantastic experience kayaking out to Old Harry Rocks, would really recommend this activity. Instructors made sure we felt really confident despite not having done much kayaking before myself. Amazing sites and to pull up on the beach underneath the rocks is something not many people will get to do. Exciting trip back going round the headlands against the waves but nothing most people wouldn't be able to cope with and the leaders were really good at making sure everyone was ok. Would love to do this again sometime.

The very best beach experiences

As darkness descends you will be briefed on the evenings sea kayaking adventure, glow sticks will be snapped and head torches lit up. Our kayaking guides will share the dark art of night navigation! Depending on conditions we will either be exploring the channels and islands of Poole harbour or heading round the cliffs and exploring Old Harry Rocks sea stacks by kayak to Swanage bay. Wherever we head you will get the chance to use a map and compass to navigate your way through a nighttime adventure.

You need to be comfortable paddling a sea kayak on the sea with a spraydeck. Try our intro to sea kayaking sessions if you need to brush up on your skills.

*Please note children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult, Min suggested age 16+

  • Unless we tell you something else all of our night navigation kayaking sessions run from our Hutquarters on Middle beach in Studland, if this trip will be running in the harbour you will be notified where to meet in advance, but it will start on the studland side of the harbour.
  • Please arrive at our base in the car park 10 minutes before your adventure begins to ensure a savvy start as we unfortunately we can’t hold the session if you are late
  • You will need to be ready in your swimwear for a swift change into wetsuits.
  • After a quick change you will make your way down to our beach hut down on the beach.
  • After a short safety briefing you will kayak out by moonlight to explore the majestic Old Harry Rocks. We hug the coastline and stay in mostly shallow water all the way. At Old Harry we enter deeper water and explore the cliffs and sea stacks further.
  • This trip is on single closed cock pit kayaks. You need to be comfortable paddling a sea kayak on the sea with a spraydeck. We run intro to sea kayaking courses should you need to brush up on your skills first.
  • You will need to bring footwear (old trainers or aqua shoes do just the job)
  • You will need to wear your swimming cossie or shorts underneath our wetsuits. Make sure you bring sunglasses, sunscreen, a change of clothes, a towel and a water bottle to stay hydrated.
  • In winter you will need to wear a base layer under our wetsuit (manmade fabric as cotton will retain water). Hats and gloves are a good idea too, as well as a snug fleece and some warm socks for afterwards!
  • You will need to bring a headtorch.
  • £80pp (minimum age allowed is 16 years)
  • children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult
  • The private night time tours are £700 for sit on top or £800 for closed cock pit sea kayaks. If your group is larger than 10 we can still accommodate you.
  • We can work with groups of up to to 6 on sea kayaks, or 30 on sit on tops. For larger groups we recommend sit on tops and run multiple groups of up to 10 at the same time to make up a larger group size. You will still need to book an entire group of up to 10 even if your group size is smaller than this.
  • The min age is 6+ on private 2 hour tours or 10+ on half days. 16+ on night time tours
  • To book a bespoke trip select the book ‘entire activity’ button and this session will be booked privately for your group. Please contact us directly if there are not enough sessions available to book your entire group and we can check if we have availability to add more
