This week’s blog is bringing you SUP adventure inspiration in a mammoth serving!
Fiona Quinn – Outdoor Adventure Inspiration
We mentioned in a previous newsletter about Fiona Quinn’s book Ignore the Fear- if you haven’t already checked it out, it’s well worth a read.
Fiona is quite the adventurer, she walked and cycled Lands End to John O’Groats (already epic) but that wasn’t enough. She wanted to complete a triathlon. With swimming out of the question, Fiona hopped on a paddleboard. She travelled 800 miles to complete this awesome feat of SUP adventure inspiration.
She’s racked up a few achievements along the way. She was the first woman to SUP across the Irish Sea. Also the first person to SUP the length of Britain on an inflatable paddleboard. But she did it all with a fear of the sea!
SUP Adventure Inspiration With Fiona
Ahead of her SUP adventure Fiona had only been on a paddleboard three times! Luckily she had a helpful support crew and what sounds like quite a lot of cake! Facing (or ignoring!) her fear, Fiona took on the challenge. She became the first woman in history to complete the length of Britain Triathlon. True SUP adventure inspiration!
Contending with the weather, wildlife, and whirlpools, Fiona set off in April 2018. Figuring out an adventure like this clearly takes a lot of planning, from equipment and support crew to finding a support vessel! As well as achieving a number of incredible records, Fiona was also awarded the British Canoeing John MacGregor Outstanding Challenge Award 2018 in recognition of her dedication, commitment, and impact on the sport.
