We always knew Old Harry Rocks was somewhere really special, but we’re glad to be in good company!
At 4am on a sunny June morning in 2022, Sir David Attenborough filmed the introductory scene for the new BBC wildlife documentary Wild Isles. Specifically, he stood in our back garden- above Old Harry Rocks! Sir David spoke of how he felt honoured to present from Old Harry, which he said he has always loved for it’s dramatic scenery.
The series will feature footage from 200 shoots filmed over three years. It’ll showcase the best scenery and wildlife from the British Isles. From Golden Eagles in the Scottish Highlands to dormice in Sussex, Puffins and Gulls on Skomer Island in Pembrokeshire. It also features Kingfishers on Dorset’s River Frome. We obviously can’t wait to see our incredible home showcased like this.

Obviously, Old Harry Rocks looked majestic in the introductory shots. Sir David has spoken of the documentary:
“In my long life, I’ve been lucky enough to travel to almost every part of the globe and gaze upon some of its most beautiful and dramatic sights.
“But I can assure you that nature in these islands, if you know where to look, can be just as dramatic and spectacular as anything I’ve seen elsewhere.
“The British Isles are globally important for nature. In Wild Isles, we show why that is so and celebrate the wonders of these islands that we call home.

Additionally, Jo Atkins from the National Trust said: “We are really excited about the forthcoming series Wild Isles, and looking forward to enjoying lots of fabulous wildlife around the country this spring. It feels really significant to have Old Harry Rocks and the adjacent coastline to feature in the trailer and is a lovely recognition of the beauty and natural richness of the Purbeck landscape.”
